VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Service opportunities in our church are far more than just volunteering or pitching in to help out. We believe that service is a form of spiritual practice. It is the way we honor, serve and express the highest part of our self, which is Spirit. Service in our church is an important and integral part of our spiritual journey. The following is a sampling of service opportunities in our spiritual community.

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS (SUMMARY)

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY - Caring for and keeping clean a 4-mile stretch of highway, California's SR267 from Kings Beach north.

BOOKSTORE - Retail merchandise using cash box on Sundays, evenings, special events; customer-service oriented; love of metaphysical books an asset; experience merchandising very helpful.

CIRCLE OF LOVE - Visit, nurture and encourage folks in the hospital or in their home; send appropriate cards; make phone calls; provide meals or other general help.

CLEAN-UP - Self-starter. Stays late. Puts away the various tables, chairs, tablecloths, and coffee/tea stations in the kitchen after the Hospitality hour is over. Washes dishes, takes out trash, and puts away all supplies. Must ensure doors are locked and lights are turned off before departure.

GARDEN TEAM - Maintain landscaping; perform gardening projects.

GREETER - Greet attendees upon arrival, and direct them to Sanctuary and kitchen.

HOSPITALITY - Prepare and serve refreshments for one Sunday service per month.

LIVE WIRE CHOIR - Perform one Sunday a month and at special events. Rehearse once a week, preferably.

MAIL TEAM - Work as a team to fold, stuff, sort, label and prepare large mailings. Commitment is one day every other month for the newsletter, and as required for special events.

OFFICE ANGELS - Work closely with the church Administrator doing such tasks as photo-copying, answering phones, preparing Sunday programs, creating tape copies and labels, etc. Personal computer and MS-Office skills a plus.

SET-UP - Self-starter. Arrives early. Sets up the various tables, chairs, tablecloths, and coffee/tea stations in the kitchen for after-Service hospitality.

SOUND & LIGHTS - Operate the Sanctuary sound system, and lighting, for Sunday service and special events. Specific training required. 6-month minimum commitment.

YOUTH CHURCH - Teach or assist church youth. SOM 100 class is required.
